Welcome to World of Yarn!

This is my blog dedicated to the craft of crochet. I love to crochet and have spent a significant portion of my life doing it. I plan to use this platform to put up my original patterns for free for anyone who might be interested in trying them. Don't forget to let me know if you have tried them and what you think!

Harvey's Blanket

Two of my favorite people, Brad and Lisa, had a baby last month.  I always make blankets for their babies.  I chose this adorable blanket from Ravelry.com because it was a free pattern and I liked the colors.
This isn't Harvey, but my own cute little Echo.  I spread the blanket out on the grass and went to get the camera, when I got back this is what I found.  She's even holding a crochet hook!  The little stinker wants people to believe she's the master crocheter!

 Baby tested, baby approved!

Preschool Graduation Gift

My mother-in-law teaches preschool in Utah.  She hired me to make custom mini's of all her preschool students as a gift for their graduation.  I made 15 dolls and it took about 2 months all together.  It was so fun though, and I LOVE how they look when they are crowded next to each other.  I wish I didn't have to send them away.  I want to keep them, they are so cute, plus it was a TON of work, and that makes it harder to never see them again.
But those kids are going to love them.  My favorites are...The little blond boy with the green shirt in the front row, the dark haired girl with the red shirt in the front row, and the blond girl in pig-tails in the middle row.  I think they are just SO CUTE!

Keeping up with the Fredrickson's

Another custom Etsy order.  This is Mr and Mrs Fredrickson form Disney/Pixar's Up.  Although I LOVED how the mister turned out (so cute and I love that square head), I hated the mrs.  She looks terrible, but for some reason I just couldn't catch her essence.  The customer, however, was happy so I guess it doesn't matter.
 A close-up of Carl.  Seriously, he's adorable!!

Do you play portal?

I don't! As previously mentioned I'm not into video games, however, my son, my husband, and my husband's friends are.  They all recently played Portal 2 and loved it.  I made Chell and the Companion Cube for Scott's geeky work buddy's birthday.  He tends to make it do a booty dance frequently (or so I've heard from Scott), so I guess that's a good thing.

Custom Mini's

So I made these cute little mini's of my cute little mini's!  The kids loved them and think they are so funny.  I'm very pleased with how they turned out...as usual.

Anastasia and Thumbelina

I had an Etsy customer who custom ordered an Anastasia doll.  She was so pleased with it that a few days later, she ordered a Thumbelina doll for her best friend.  The both turned out pretty cute.  I love their hair.

 And here is Thumbelina

Mirror Mirror

Next up in the princess line....Snow White.  I made this because a customer on Etsy requested it.  I had a hard time with her hair, but I still think she turned out lovely.  Still the fairest of them all.

I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse..

This is a horse I made for my friend's little boy on his 2nd birthday.  I think he liked him at first, but later became afraid of him.  I believe he was given a name like Chester (or something like that).  I thought it should have been named Rick James, because check out the geri-curl (I don't know if that's how you spell it, don't judge).

Anyway, While I was making "Rick James" the horse, Scott and I thought it would be funny to replay a Godfather scene.  It still makes me laugh.  My husband is awesome!

Awesome Opossum

I made this possum from a pattern (as per request of an Etsy customer) found here.  Turned out very cute I think...It actually creeps me out just a teensy bit!

My first Etsy order EVER!!

I got my first Etsy order ever!  A custom order for The Medic, a character from the video game Team Fortress 2 (I'm not even 100% sure about that, I don't know video games!) I worked really hard on this little guy to make him look like the customers request.  I think he looks so cute!

Wall.e

My son was sick of all his wall.e toys breaking.  There were really no options of a Brunson kid resistant Wall.e, so I made one for my son's birthday.  I LOVE how he turned out.  Seriously adorable!
Aren't the wheels and eyes awesome.  I'm so freakin' talented!

Bright young women, sick of swimming

Check it out, she really is "ready to stand"!  This is Ariel, aka The Little Mermaid after she trades in her voice for legs!  How could Eric not fall in love with her? Look at her, she's lovely!

I'm not a fan of the backyardigans..

But my brother-in-law's kids are!  Little Aiden was about to turn 1 do I made Pablo...Didn't turn out exactly as I had planned, but luckily 1 year olds don't notice such crappy work!

Do Panda's have breasts?

Ahhh, the inappropriateness heard around the world.  I made this sexy little number for my sister!  That's right for my sister.  It was all in fun, and I think it turned out pretty darn good!
No one was willing to model the bra so the panda bear here finally volunteered.  He's not doing a great job, but I suppose beggars can't be choosers.
Check out that texture!  That's got to be pleasant on a sensitive area like your nipple!

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Your hair uses too much yarn!

I was excited to do Rapunzel.  The Tangled movie had recently been released and my daughter LOVED her!  My son wanted to be her.....weirdo.  Anyway, I got to work and didn't realize how much work that hair entailed.  I knew I wanted to do the braid, but I was unprepared for the amount of yarn it would use, how fat the braid would be, and how hard it would be to make it long.  Anyway, here is how she turned out..

A few months later I decided to update Rapunzel, make her hair longer, and make her body a little more slender.  Here is the second (and much better version) Rapunzel.

Its no wonder that her name means beauty!

Every time I design a new doll it becomes my favorite.  Belle was no exception.  I love her beautiful yellow gown.  She is based on the Disney version (as they all are), and is ready for her dance with the beast!

Cinderella dressed in yell....er, uh....blue

I was very pleased with my work on Tinkerbell that I decided maybe I would make more girly dolls, my daughter just loved them.  Naturally Cinderella came next, because she seemed the most similar to Tinkerbell.  Here she is all finished.
